Throwback to World of Children’s Choirs 2001 BC Place

The Comox Valley Children's Choir is a registered non-profit society the operated under the Nova Voce Choral Society that has been in existence since 1995. This is our 25th season in operation.

The choir was founded in 1995 by Carol Anne Parkinson. She started with a small children’s choir and a 6 member youth choir. Over the next 5 years, both choirs expanded to 25-30 members each, with the Youth Choir participating in festivals and tours. At one time, the Nova Voce Choral Society ran four choirs; a children’s choir, a youth choir, a women’s choir, and a men’s choir. Carol Anne led the choirs until 2008 and continues to provide leadership on the Board of Directors

From 2008-2013 the choirs were led by skilled piano teacher and leader Wendy Dyck.

Sophie Simard has been leading the Children’s and Youth Choirs since 2013. Her energy and enthusiasm for working with young people is contagious and her leadership guides the singers to new heights each week.

We have a volunteer board that is integral to all our operations, and we strive to offer children a fun (non-competitive) and supportive environment in which to learn choral music and culture.

We have performed many many concerts and events including the World of Children's Choirs in 2001, and Canada Day in Ottawa in 2007.

We have worked with clinicians locally and from afar including Stephen Hatfield, Rollo Dilworth, Pamela Tessman, Brian Tate, and Corwin Fox.
